We will not only sell but help you understand the value of the diamond you leave with. Diamonds are judge on four qualities: cut, color, carat and clarity.

Cut
Of the four Cs, cut is the only non-natural aspect of a diamond’s beauty. It is also perhaps the most important factor affecting a diamond's overall quality. A diamond's brilliance depends on how much light is reflected back to your eyes. The light enters and refracts through the diamond from the crown. The crown has a table, which is the large flat facet on top of the diamond. Once the light enters the table it reflects off the pavilion, or body, of the stone and exits the back through the table to sparkle.

Color
When looking at the color, one wants as near to colorless as possible. The measurement of diamond color is then based on that desire. The Gemological Institute of America, GIA, has devised a color scale from D-Z. D is colorless and Z is brownish yellow. However, to discern the difference between D-F is almost impossible to the untrained eye, and results in these three letters to be considered colorless and the most expensive. Diamonds in the "G-I" range appear completely white to most observers and for this reason can be a better value than colorless diamonds. Color grades beyond "J" exhibit a yellowish or brownish tint, which is increasingly discernable by the untrained eye as you approach the extreme end of the spectrum.

Carat
A carat is a unit of weight measurement for diamonds, and equals two hundred milligrams. In addition, one carat equals 100 points. Therefore, a half carat diamond is also referred to as a fifty point diamond. In addition to being larger, larger diamonds make it easier to see the effects of other key characteristics, such as cut and color. Depending on the significance of these other characteristics, diamonds of a similar size (carat weight) may differ dramatically in price.

Clarity
Clarity refers to the inclusion of imperfections in a diamond. Remember that the sparkle comes from the cut of the diamond. Most imperfections are microscopic flaws, or "inclusions," formed inside the diamond during the formation process known as crystallization. Other flaws, however, appear on the surface of a diamond and may have appeared during the cutting process. These inclusions, many times, can be hidden by the mounting, though.
